Shush the clank.

Every car that rolls over that loose driveway cover — clank. Then another one. Shush Shims are squishy TPU wedges that fill the gap and stop the rattling. Press in, rip the tops off, back inside in five minutes.

How it works

The whole job, twenty seconds, no sound.
  1. Lift one side with a hook in the pick hole. The cover stays in its frame.
  2. Start big — grab the largest shim that'll go in, then keep feeding shims into the gaps. Five or more in place is normal; more is better.
  3. Slide them in at the raised side and push them round, doing the far ones first. The wave squashes to get there and springs back.
  4. Rip the tops off once the cover's down — each neck tears off by hand at a built-in line, no scissors. Silence.

What's in the kit

An assortment of TPU shims in a spread of sizes — enough to fit any manhole cover, because nobody ever standardized the gap.

No calipers, no math, no trip to the hardware store. Start with the biggest shim that goes in, work down until the cover sits tight, then rip the leftover necks off by hand. One kit, one cover, one less noise in your life.

FAQ

Why does my driveway cover rattle when cars drive over it?

The cover sits a little smaller than the frame it drops into, and every tire that rolls across rocks it against the lip. Catch it off-center — one wheel over the edge rather than square across the middle — and that side tips down while the far side lifts — CLANK! Fill the gap and the rattling noise stops. Nothing else about the cover has to change.

Is this legal to install?

Public street manholes belong to the city — call them first, and let us know if they ever call back. Covers on your own property: driveways, HOA grates, private vaults, warehouse yards. If you are out of patience or aren't scared of the man, proceed with caution.

Will it fit my cover?

Cover gaps are gloriously non-standard, so the kit ships an assortment of sizes to fit any manhole cover. Don't measure anything: start with the biggest shim that goes in and work down until it's snug. One kit handles one standard cover.

What tools do I need?

Just something to lift the cover (a pry bar or hook). No scissors, no knife — each shim's neck tears off by hand at a built-in line once the cover is back down. No ruler required either.

How long does it last outdoors?

TPU is flexible engineering rubber — weather-proof, UV-resistant, and happy to stay squashed under a hundred pounds of iron without splitting.
